After making the decision to pursue a career in professional wrestling, Anderson headed to Cincinnati, Ohio. Here he began training, under the tutelage of none other than Les Thatcher.

Thatcher's school is called 'Les Thatcher's Main Event Pro Wrestling Camp', and he also promoted Heartland Wrestling Association shows, where Anderson got his first break.

Interestingly enough, the reason Anderson enrolled at the school was because he had watched the MTV documentary entitled 'True Life: I'm A Pro Wrestler'. This show followed the school in Cincinnati, and to a degree Karl felt it was the only option.

Anderson would only last three months at the school, ending early due to a concussion and complications with the camp itself. Anderson has since stated that he has a great relationship with Thatcher today, with the two frequently meeting up and getting breakfast together in Cincinnati.

Graduates of the school include such names as Dean Ambrose, Charlie Haas, Umaga, Nigel McGuinness and Jamie Noble.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
