9 Things WWE Got Right At Extreme Rules 2017

2. Saving Most Of The Hardcore For The Main Event

Did anyone else notice that WWE put limitations on virtually every other match aside from the main event? The Miz and Dean Ambrose teased using a chair, Alexa Bliss and Bayley did use a Kendo Stick and the Raw Tag Title bout obviously used the Steel Cage, but weapon shots and hardcore behaviour were kept to a minimum.

That was a good thing too, because the headliner used chairs, broken safety barriers and announce tables to weave the necessary story. There was even some blood, albeit unintentional and coming from the mouth of Reigns. Does that man ever go through a pay-per-view without busting his lip, nose or coughing up claret?

Had other matches on the card been rife with weapons, blood (even accidental) or high levels of violence, the Fatal-5-Way may not have had the same impact. Every wrestling show should build towards the main event, and that's something WWE got right at Extreme Rules. Good job.
