9 Things You Didn't Know About WWE No Way Out

5. Edge Injury Forced Change To Card In 2003

The above picture should also feature Edge, but the lanky Canadian is nowhere in sight. The advertised SmackDown main event for No Way Out 2003 was Team Angle (Kurt, Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas) taking on Chris Benoit, Brock Lesnar and Christian's kayfabe brother in a six-man match. That match was changed to a handicap match on the night of the show, with WWE shooting an injury angle with Edge and removing him from the equation. The reason? Because Edge was experiencing severe pain and loss of feeling in his body, a result of a broken neck. Edge began feeling the symptoms in mid-late 2002 but fought through the pain as he was enjoying the biggest push of his career as a singles wrestler. By February 2003, though, the pain had become too much and Edge was forced to go under the knife. He'd be out of action for over a year.
