9 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (27 Oct)

1. A Twist In The Tale

MJF Angle
AEW

A conditional 'Up' here, since the storyline has yet to conclude. If this is all an elaborate ruse on the part of MJF, and he remains aligned with Stokely Hathaway, there's a suboptimal Aces & Eights quality to it - i.e., making daft and illogical creative decisions purely to obscure the revelation.

In a thoughtful twist, the Firm locked the BCC in their dressing room, enabling Mox to take a beating with no comeback (even if he has previously been aligned with Kingston and Ortiz and, more loosely, Darby Allin and the Lucha Bros.)

It was effective stuff. W.Morrissey looked like a monster, as did Ethan Page, where Lee Moriarty and the Gunn Club played the role of annoying insects. Then, MJF ran in for the save to deepen the mystery of whether he's actually turning. If nothing else, this was very effective in teasing out the mystery and dropping an unpredictable hook over the coming weeks.

Overall, some tiresome tropes notwithstanding - Orange Cassidy volunteering to defend his title in a three-way via interrupted backstage segment, f*ck's sake - this was a stellar and what's more, very promising episode of Dynamite.
