9 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jan 27)

3. Kingston & Archer Get Scrappy

Lance Archer Eddie Kingston
AEW

The Eddie Kingston/Lance Archer rivalry began all the way back at All Out 2020, with Eddie's non-elimination from the Casino Battle Royale. Finally, it came to a head last night, as Kingston cheated his way past 'The Murderhawk Monster' via knuckledusters.

Allie slipped Eddie the weapon after The Butcher and The Blade had dragged a beaten Jake 'The Snake' Roberts out onto the stage. Nailing Lance with the Uraken, Kingston scored the biggest singles win of his AEW career to date, doing so in a way that leaves enough beef on the chopping block for AEW to potentially revisit at some time.

The fight up to that was as ugly as it needed to be. Eddie spent most of it either trying to chop Archer down or on the backfoot, eating a sick apron bump after being chokeslammed over the top rope. He took it extremely well, particularly for a man of his size, and targetted knee work opened several windows for him to break Archer's control. Lance looked good, though. He was a menace on offense and locking Kingston in the EBD Claw would have finished the match in his favour if not for that pesky Family.
