This came around following a stellar promo exchange between the duo. Deonna was exceptional here, mentioning that she never idolised Mickie James and how she doesn't owe her anything after partaking in NWA Empowerrr against Melina. The thought of facing James on a marquee pay-per-view stage does nothing for her, said the Knockouts Champion.

The two got into it as Deonna went to leave the ring. Mickie held her back, slapping her in the face twice before a pull-apart brawl ensued. Though the duo has made use of this trope on a few occasions now, it's something they do well. Seeing them sprawl around as security attempts to separate them works for their particular story.

Scott D'Amore made the match from there, noting how he'd be a fool to pass on such an opportunity. The match will certainly bang hard, but it's crucial that Deonna maintains her grip on the Knockouts Title. A win over an all-time icon such as Mickie James is something she needs to establish herself as the greatest Knockouts Champion. Otherwise, the match will be a hoot.
