9 Ups & 2 Downs From NXT TakeOver: In Your House

A literally smashing night of pro wrestling...

Did WWE just produce the best In Your House card ever?

It's an interesting debate, because the NXT crew's efforts far exceeded many previous cards in the pay-per-view series' 25-year old history. If you were looking for the best possible blend of nostalgic fuzziness and zippy, modern pro wrestling, then TakeOver had you covered, and it was glorious.

There's no point in ignoring the obvious - everyone reading this can see from the number of 'Ups' compared to 'Downs' that NXT's latest was a lot of fun. Maybe it didn't reach the heights of Canadian Stampede back in 1997, but that's perhaps an unfair comparison because WWE couldn't lean on a red hot crowd at Full Sail in 2020.

The various extras behind plexiglass at ringside - and the quite brilliant trio of Mauro Ranallo, Beth Phoenix and Tom Phillips on commentary - created enough atmosphere, and the show (at under two and a half hours) never threatened to overstay its welcome.

Between new champions, stipulations that didn't quite click, retro flavour and more, here are all the good points and bad from another memorable TakeOver...
