9 Ups & 3 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Hard To Kill 2022

3. Knockouts Over-Deliver

It was a little rough around the edges, but the inaugural knockouts Ultimate X match was as perfect an Ultimate X match as you'd imagine. Those rough edges can be put down to the nerves of those involved; this was the first of its kind.

The match felt important because everyone made it feel as such. The staredown between all six pre-match put this over perfectly; this was a turning point for the knockouts division on a night where the division was at the forefront of conversation.

Starting off chaotically, the match was a spotfest without ever losing its touch; a classic Pro Wrestling Guerrilla-esque affair, if you will. A cliched can't-blink-or-you'll-miss-it, there was something to pop the live audience with every passing minute, whether that was Chelsea Green and Alisha diving off the Ultimate X structure or Jordynne Grace executing a Sky High on Tasha Steelz from off the cables. Everything was insane. It was always going to be one of the card's more anticipated contests, and IMPACT must be commended for beginning the main card with this bout given they were going head-to-head with AEW's inaugural Battle of the Belts.

Tasha Steelz won after a brief tussle with Chelsea Green, earning a future Knockouts World Championship shot. This was the right call. Tasha desperately needed something to sink herself into that wasn't the doubles division. With a fresh match vs. Deonna Purrazzo now awaiting her, IMPACT has created a star that is a near-total package.
