9 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jun 9)
2. A Virtuous Arrival
After only two vignettes, Deonna Purrazzo made a bold statement in her official debut for Impact, immediately setting her sights on Jordynne Grace and the Knockouts Championship. One segment is all it took for Impact to make better use of her than WWE ever did.
'The Virtuosa' emerged at the end of the show, interrupting Grace's celebration following her victory over Taya Valkyrie. Although it looked at first like Purrazzo was simply there to extend her hand to 'Thicc Mama Pump', she instead cinched in that vicious Fujiwara armbar of hers that has put away countless foes. Being in a company that failed to do anything with her has clearly lit a fire inside Deonna, something that Jordynne's shoulder discovered the hard way.
Simplistic is the word to use for this. Interruption, feign a handshake, armbar, stand tall as the show fades to black. That's all this was. Debuts don't have to be anything too over the top. While those sorts of OTT angles can benefit some debuts and make them have a long-lasting impact, if you'll pardon the pun, that simply doesn't make sense for someone who calls themselves 'The Virtuosa'.
