9 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jun 9)
1. Double Return, Double The Quality
Jordynne Grace and Taya Valkyrie were both making their in-ring returns to Impact in this week's main event, having both not been seen since the no crowd shows kicked off in the middle of April. Their Knockouts Championship match was, as expected, wonderfully excellent. While not the Full Metal Mayhem scrap we had been promised for Rebellion, their title bout remained one hell of a contest.
For the first time, Rosemary stood in Taya's corner throughout the match, alongside her apparent new best friend John E. Bravo. 'The Demon Assassin' didn't really do too much during the bout, but she was on the receiving end of a suicide dive from 'Thicc Mama Pump', and also shoved Bravo aside at one point to check on 'Wera Loca' herself. The latter was an incredibly small gesture from Rosemary, but it helped further develop this weird relationship between her and Bravo just a tad more.
With Grace busting out of all her usual offence - the corner splash, the seated back elbow, the spear (thankfully, Taya didn't land on her neck like she did in one of their prior encounters) - it seemed as if this was just another Grace vs. Valkyrie match. Still decent obviously, but nothing overly new. That's when the champion utilised something we've never seen from her before: a rear naked choke that secured her the submission victory. It may have only been one new finisher, but it changed the match.
The post-match debut of Deonna Purrazzo only added to the atmosphere. Yet another week of the knockouts division being on top form.
