9 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Nov 3)

7. That Cold Open

The quality of Impact Wrestling's production is certainly one of the company's strongest assets these days, and it was put on full display for this week's cold open to the show - one week on from the shooting of John E. Bravo.

It wasn't a simple cold open, as it painted countless potential culprits to determine who shot Bravo. There had been subtle hints dropped for the past few weeks without the viewer even realising it. The recent groom hadn't exactly been the kindest to his wedding party in the weeks building to last week's extravaganza, and so the list of plausible shooters is endless.

Having Tommy Dreamer take up the role of detective for the case adds a much-needed aura of comedy to the angle. Impact have never been shy to make good use of these over the top angles - keep in mind Allie was literally killed off when she signed with AEW last year - but they need to ensure the story doesn't get tedious so soon after it begins. By inserting 'The Innovator of Violence' into this sort of role, it more or less guarantees that won't happen.
