9 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (2 Feb)

3. Is Repetition Key?

Again, AEW stars Matt Hardy and Private Party were advertised for last night's Impact Wrestling, and again, their appearance was restricted to a meaningless backstage skit. The only thing that makes this week's worse than last week's is that this was more or less an exact replica.

'Big Money Matt' insisted on Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy lifting both the Impact and AEW World Tag Team Championships in order to make more money for themselves and for him. The No Surrender bout vs. The Good Brothers was mentioned, as was tonight's tag team Battle Royal on AEW's Beach Break edition of Dynamite, and that was that. Very much the same as last week.

So, not only would this have been more suited for AEW programming, considering it was mostly All Elite Wrestling that was talked about here, but there was literally no need for this to even happen considering the content that was mentioned. If you're going to advertise a former Impact stalwart for the episode, alongside a legendary tag team in the making, then it's maybe a good idea to make each and every appearance mean something.
