9 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Against All Odds 2021

5. Change Of Scenery

In itself, the IMPACT World Championship being defended at Daily’s Place – the home of All Elite Wrestling – is a major win for IMPACT. It puts them across as a big league company, which, while they are, is something they have rarely been viewed as in the last few years. Both promotions went an extra step further, though.

Not only did AEW ring announcer Justin Roberts conduct the in-ring introductions for Kenny Omega and Moose rather than David Penzer, but Josh Mathews and D-Lo Brown were replaced on commentary by Don Callis. Scott D’Amore, and AEW’s Tony Schiavone. The only thing missing was an AEW referee – instead, IMPACT’s Brian Hebner handled officiating duties.

While not exactly anything major, it was a nice touch to give the match that extra panache. Having a crowd of sorts around ringside – it was filled with what looked like AEW Dark/Dark: Elevation stars – brought life back to IMPACT for the first time since last April. Sure, they weren’t as hot for the match as they could have been, but who’s caring that much? The match banged.
