9 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Against All Odds 2021

1. You're Fired!

A cliffhanger is always the best way to end a pay-per-view or, in this case, an IMPACT Plus special. Not only does it send social media into a craze, it provides a reason to tune into the next weekly show.

Sami Callihan showing up in Daily’s Place, laying out the Young Bucks with a baseball bat, and threatening to cave in Kenny Omega’s face a la Eddie Edwards was already deserving of an Up in itself.

Don Callis topped it all off. Firing Callihan just because he could, ‘The Invisible Hand’ confirmed his status as a d*ck.

If you’re in the know, then no, Callis doesn’t actually have this power anymore. Onscreen, he still portrays the role of IMPACT EVP, but in reality, he hasn’t been in that role for a while. Keeping him in the role of power in a kayfabe sense adds the flavour that IMPACT needs. Authority figures are never needed, however, in this case, he’s now a manager who happens to have this power. It works perfectly.

The end goal is likely still Callihan vs. Omega at Slammiversary. How we get there remains unknown as of writing. That’s the beauty of a cliffhanger. We could get the answer this Thursday for all we know. Damn you, IMPACT and your brilliant marketing.
