9 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Against All Odds 2021

Downs...

5. Not Quite Enough

There was nothing overtly wrong with Deonna Purrazzo and Rosemary’s Knockouts Championship match per se; it was simply a case of a match happening for the sake of a match happening.

The duo’s brief bit of work outside the ring – where Rosemary exploder suplexed Purrazzo on the ramp, and Deonna in retaliation pump kicked Rosemary’s arm against the ring post – was decent enough and made sense for a short while. ‘The Virtuosa’ attempted both the Fujiwara armbar and the Venus di Milo before giving up, placing her attention instead towards Rosemary’s surgically repaired knee.

Or, at least, she was supposed to.

Deonna merely took her knee brace off. A leg-based submission wasn’t attempted. She won not too long after with the Cosa Nostra, her Piledriver variant. A good finisher that in this context didn’t quite hit the right note.

This would have been fine for an AXS TV title defence, but on an IMPACT Plus special? It didn’t have a place. It kept felt like something was going to happen, such as Havok getting involved or Taylor Wilde returning, but nothing did. Deonna retained and the day moved on. Again, nothing wrong here. It just wasn’t much of anything.
