Much of Against All Odds felt real.
Sami Callihan showing up in Daily’s Place and subsequently being fired felt real. Madman Fulton looking berserk after the X Division five-way felt real. W. Morrissey’s calculated decimation of Rich Swann felt real. Hell, even Fire N Flava vs. Kimber Lee and Susan, which took on the role of the comedy match for the evening, felt real to an extent.
Whatever the f*ck happened backstage with Brian Myers, Sam Beale, and Jake Something, however, came directly from WWE’s book of disastrous backstage segment nuances that was weak beyond weak.
Myers and Beale were discussing what the latter had picked up from the card, with Something casually showing up, telling the youngster to do the opposite of whatever he’s told by Myers, and Brian telling Jake not to take the bait. This had WWE written all over it, aside from Myers and Beale watching the monitor from a natural position. For instance, was there a genuine need for Lenny the security guard to make a cameo? This reeked.
