9 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 27)
3. Third Wheelin'
The viewers' mileage will have varied on WWE's decision to insert a third party into Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch. This column sits on the negative side. It may prove to be a tremendous bout, but SmackDown's heels and faces marching out in processions made the non-talkers look like passengers and muddied the Flair/Lynch dynamic, which was carrying a good segment prior to Mandy Rose's music hitting.
WWE have booked a three-way Tables, Ladders & Chairs match to prevent a concrete finish. Just like much of the original Becky vs. Charlotte feud, then. And Flair vs. Ronda Rousey. It seems like they're terrified of having one woman pin another at the moment, and that has rarely been as annoying as when this transparent plan came to fruition at the top of this show.
Though their latest programme only concluded a few weeks ago, Flair vs. Lynch made great sense, given recent developments. Now, a third wrestler with no significance or relevance to the storyline has been thrown into the mix. Again, we're sure it'll be a good bout, but the circumstances through which it came together didn't hit the mark.
