9 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Dec 26)

4. Faces In The Crowd

The new, annoying trend of showing random fans (mostly children) in the crowd continued Monday, and it continued to annoy.

The new trend started a few weeks ago and has persisted, with cameras cutting away from in-ring action or promos to show fans (hopefully) reacting. Take Enzo Amore’s promo for example: the screen was full of young fans chanting along rather than showing the wrestlers. And while it’s great to show the crowd having a good time and being invested in the product, it’s done best in moderation, which is something WWE doesn’t exactly excel at.

Memo to Kevin Dunn: Knock it off. Showing a kid or two here and there is fine, but you’re in overkill mode, and it needs to stop. Maybe after nearly 30 years as the line producer for all live telecasts, Dunn really should step back and let someone else bring different ideas to the table.
