Ups...

9. Punking Out Chicago Fans

Come January, it will have been three years since CM Punk last set foot in a WWE ring. Three years.

So when the Chicago faithful opened Raw by raining down “CM Punk!” chants at Stephanie McMahon, she rightfully turned on them and casually pointed out that if they could keep it up for 2:15, they’d last one second longer than Punk did in his UFC match against Mickey Gall. That biting comment drew an “ooooh” from the crowd.

Regardless of how you feel about CM Punk, how he was treated by WWE and whether you think the WWE brass is to blame, it’s been three years. This writer misses Punk too and feels like WWE would be infinitely better with him as part of the product, but that doesn’t mean chanting for him several times is going to accomplish anything.

Even if you grade the chant as just some harmless fun (which is understandable), you still have to give props to Stephanie for shutting them down right away.
