9 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2021

Ups...

9. Setting Up SummerSlam

John Cena Roman Reigns

Give WWE credit for laying the groundwork for its next PPV without managing to make the current PPV feel like a worthless venture.

Money in the Bank served to set the table for SummerSlam with a couple feuds, with John Cena returning to step to Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins costing Edge his Universal Championship match. Those two high-profile matches are all but guaranteed for next month.

Also, you can figure that the two title changes – the Usos winning the SmackDown Tag Team Championship and Charlotte Flair winning the Raw Women’s Championship – will generate rematches at SummerSlam. If that holds, that’s potentially four matches (three seem to be locks) for the next PPV, which is pretty decent booking there.

And let’s face it: Edge/Rollins and Cena/Reigns are pretty interesting matches right out of the gate.
