9 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE SummerSlam 2018

8. Ambrose Neutralizes McIntyre

For all the talk that Dean Ambrose was going to turn on Seth Rollins and cost him the Intercontinental Championship, that thankfully didn’t happen Sunday night.

Ambrose did his job perfectly, keeping Drew McIntyre at bay. The Scottish Psychopath has been the deciding factor in the ongoing Rollins/Dolph Ziggler feud, and Seth brought his Shield brethren to provide backup. Rather than pull the “shocking” swerve of Dean turning on him, Ambrose simply did his job and kept McIntyre from interfering.

And that neutralization allowed Rollins to defeat Ziggler and win the title. It was a pretty simple, straightforward storyline, but when you throw in the quality of the match (more on that later), it works just fine.
