9 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE SummerSlam 2018

6. Becky’s Breaking Point

After playing the happy-go-lucky babyface for a good while, it was finally about time for Becky Lynch to lose it.

Lynch might be the first-ever SmackDown Women’s Champion, but she hasn’t sniffed the gold in a loooong time. So with title shots not going her way, she was clearly upset that Charlotte Flair found a way into her SummerSlam match against Carmella.

Worse yet, Flair broke up Becky’s Disarm-her on Carmella, hitting Natural Selection to pin Lynch for the title. That proved too much for the Irish Lass-kicker, who hugged and then attacked Charlotte, leaving her down and out.

Becky needed an edge to her, and this was a perfect reason for it. One thing worth noting is that Lynch doesn’t need to go “full-on heel.” This could work just as well with Becky showing more shades of grey, just outright hating Charlotte and only caring about winning the title. They’ll probably just have her sneer and be a villain, but it’s worth making the case here.
