9 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE SummerSlam 2018

4. Miz, Bryan Finally Clash

Daniel Bryan The Miz

One of WWE’s longest ongoing storylines, the rivalry between The Miz and Daniel Bryan finally collided in the ring Sunday, and it didn’t disappoint.

The story is fairly well known: Miz was Bryan’s pro during the contest phase of NXT in 2010, with the Awesome One berating his rookie regularly. Fast-forward to SmackDown with Bryan as the retired wrestler-turned-GM and Miz laying into him on Talking Smack. They’ve been at odds with each other for eight years and only have clashed in the ring a handful of times.

At SummerSlam, we got what has to be the first of this reignited rivalry, with Miz and Bryan going toe-to-toe. Miz hung with Daniel, who was on fire through much of the match. At one point, the two traded Yes Kicks, but Bryan leaned into Miz’s copycat version and dropped his former pro.

In the end, Miz grabbed a pair of brass knuckles (or some other foreign object) from wife Maryse at ringside and laid out Bryan for the three count. It was disappointing for the Yes Movement, but it was necessary for the feud to continue. And this is one feud you want to continue.
