One of Vince McMahon's ways of escalating his feud with the defiant babyface champion (in the Attitude Era, it was Steve Austin) by stacking the deck with impossible odds that the champion would usually overcome. In the past with Austin, Vince would schedule a First Blood Match against Kane (who was covered from head to toe), or a handicap match against both Undertaker and Kane. Sure enough, this past week, Vince was back stacking against the defiant babyface champion (Roman Reigns) by forcing him to defend the WWE Championship against 29 other wrestlers in the Royal Rumble match.
