Stone Cold's reservations about putting over Brock Lesnar in 2002 were not entirely without merit, to be fair.

The 'Texas Rattlesnake', as he has stated in the time since, essentially objected to the idea of such an earth-shattering result coming off the heels of just a few weeks build, arguing that any encounter between the two should follow a meticulous, well-arced storyline which gave Lesnar the time to grow into his new main event shoes.

But by throwing his toys out the pram altogether, Austin killed any hope there was of seeing these two behemoths slug it out, and although it barely hurt the 'Next Big Thing's career, for the fans, at least, it will always go down as one of WWE's biggest missed opportunities.
