Mick Foley's threshold for pain and desire to put his body on the line in the name of entertainment is well-known. Never the most athletic or possessing the best look, the man who portrayed Cactus Jack, Mankind and Dude Love realised early on that if he was going to make a name for himself, he was going to have to do it by taking the worst beatings and sickest bumps and he was going to have to do it night after night.

Often, these beatings would result in defeats for Mrs Foley's baby boy but on occasion he was able to rally and come back strong and win. That looked like it might be the outcome of Foley's (as Mankind) WWE Title I Quit match with The Rock at the 1999 Royal Rumble, as he took everything The Great One could throw at him, including numerous evil-looking chair shots directly to his cranium.

After withstanding a load of punishment, Foley was handcuffed and beaten further still, but he wouldn't say the two magic words that would have put a stop to the match. Eventually, a tape recording of Foley screaming 'I Quit' (from a Sunday Night Heat promo) played over the PA system and referee declared the Brahma Bull the 'winner'.
