9 Wrestlers Who Would Have Won King Of The Ring In The 2000s

8. 2004 - King Christian

2004 was a fairly standard year in the career of Christian. He got a big singles win at WrestleMania XX over Chris Jericho, but ended the year teaming with his problem solver Tyson Tomko after spending a few months out with injury. He returned from injury in August of 2004, so I'm putting him down as the return winner of King of the Ring for that year.

Much like Owen Hart a decade earlier, Christian's character back in 2004 was the perfect fit for the obnoxiously smug king. He wouldn't have shut up about his royal position, and King Captain Charisma would have been a riot. Tomko wouldn't have been an ordinary 'problem solver' either, but would surely have been given some sort of ridiculous royal moniker to go with his deeds.

Christian feuded with Jericho for the majority of the year, so let's have the two facing off one last time in the finals of the tournament. In the semis, let's have Shelton Benjamin and Carlito coming up short respectively.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
