Eddie Guerrero died in November 2005, but the year he had prior was stellar to say the least. He began it by winning tag gold with good buddy Rey Mysterio, before a friendly competitive match between the two at WrestleMania saw Latino Heat spiral into what looked like a mental breakdown. A heel turn followed, kicked off by the greatest promo of his entire career, and a classic feud with Rey.

Before his death, Eddie was moving towards World Championship contention by tweening his way around then-champion Batista. A King of the Ring victory would have been another feather in his Hall of Fame cap, and also guarantee him that shot against his 'buddy' Batista. Eddie would have also been the last truly established main event performer to win the tournament.

By 2005, the brand split was fully entrenched in the WWE mindset, so the draw would have been a covert SmackDown vs. RAW job too. Eddie would have prevailed in the SmackDown half by defeating Bobby Lashley, and Latino Heat would have gone on to defeat RAW superstar Shawn Michaels in the final, possibly kick-starting a feud that would have gone all the way to WrestleMania if tragedy hadn't befell the Guerrero family.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
