9 Wrestlers With Seriously Complex Backstories

8. Zeus

The character of Zeus got his start in the world of motion pictures. Portrayed by Tiny Lister, Zeus was the main villain in the Hulk Hogan-starring €œNo Holds Barred€ movie extravaganza. Hogan played a wrestler named Rip who must do battle with the evil and imposing Zeus. Because it was a movie about wrestling, the good guy won and the bad guy lost. This scripted loss angered Zeus, causing him to come to the World Wrestling Federation to seek revenge on Hogan. According to Zeus, he was not only angry about losing in the film, but was also jealous of Hogan for receiving top billing in the credits -- a right Zeus felt was his. He feuded with Hulk Hogan upon his arrival to the Federation. At SummerSlam Zeus teamed with Randy Savage to battle Hogan and Brutus Beefcake. Zeus and his partner were conquered in the contest and Zeus€™ rage built. Following another two matches and subsequently, two losses, Zeus left the company and was never seen again. While Zeus€™ run with the WWF was short, his backstory was a long and twisted tale. With his origins running back to a film, Zeus was destine to fail. He came across as a ridiculous cartoony figure in an already cartoonish world.
