9 Wrestling Gimmicks That Took YEARS To Get Over
7. It Took Braun Strowman A While To Shake Off His Wyatt Family
It's pretty clear what WWE were going for when it came to Braun Strowman's initial main roster debut in 2015.
"Here's an absolutely MASSIVE bloke!"
"Watch him man-handle the mighty Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose!"
"Look at how terrifying his cold, dead eyes are!"
'The Monster Among Men' didn't really do much to convince audiences that he was anything more than Vince McMahon's latest monster of the month during that first year alongside Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, though, with Strowman then being unceremoniously split from his family during the 2016 Draft.
And while many understandably assumed that this could be the beginning of the end for the powerful giant, Strowman remarkably began making an impact in more ways than one on Monday Night Raw as a singles worker.
His thrilling squashes were dynamic and quickly became weekly red show highlights.
As the weeks turned into months, the new-hairstyle-sporting juggernaut eventually became an unlikely fan-favourite as he tore through the likes of Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns before ultimately colliding with Brock Lesnar over the Universal Championship.
He may not have set pulses racing during those early Samwell Tarly with a Superman tattoo days. But once he was given the chance to roar his way through the roster on his own and flip a few vehicles, fans soon couldn't resist boarding the Strowman Express.
