9 Wrestling Moves Sami Zayn Doesn’t Do Anymore

9. Double Pumphandle Orange Crush

While most of the moves on this list are much-missed, there was always something indieriffic about the Double Pumphandle Orange Crush. It was already on the way out by the time Zayn arrived in WWE, but the move's few outings in NXT didn’t get it over to the point of it being necessary. As Bryan Alvarez frequently notes, some things in wrestling have never been done because they are too dumb.

The Pumphandle Orange Crush is undoubtedly one such move. It starts out as an overly jazzed-up powerbomb, further proof that good pumphandle moves are few and far between (a list that begins with the Bitter End and ends with the Meltdown), but the jazzing continues as the poor sod that must take the move goes through another rotation into a standard Orange Crush.

This is not what Kenta Kobashi had in mind when he invented the Orange Crush. Zayn has long abandoned the move, an overly-complex attack that was last seen sort of being hit on Tyler Breeze back in 2014.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
