9 WWE Moments That Prove Vince McMahon Has Been Going Blind For Years

7. The Decline Of CM Punk

The Obvious Course Of Action: Give CM Punk the ball and let him run with it. His molten-hot match with John Cena at Money In The Bank 2011 had proved him to be one of the most popular stars in the company, and potentially an era-defining anti-authority figure in the mould of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Punk certainly had the ability and crossover appeal to be one of the biggest names in WWE history. Vince's Course Of Action: Incredibly, Vince somehow managed to take the red-hot Summer of Punk angle and lead it to a conclusion nobody saw coming...Triple H vs Kevin Nash!? After defeating Cena for the WWE Championship and strolling out of the company, Punk was brought back far too quickly for a rematch, killing all the suspense and excitement his absence would have generated. He defeated Cena again in controversial circumstances, before losing the title to Alberto del Rio (cashing in his Money in the Bank contract) thanks to interference from the inexplicably returning Kevin Nash. Punk lost clean to Triple H, stalling his momentum for yet another needless Hunter victory, before transitioning into a clumsy feud with John Laurinaitis. He would thankfully regain the title, but was never the era-defining draw he could have been had his push followed a more logical path. Triple H and Kevin Nash wrestled a stinker of a match at TLC 2011, and the wrestling world despaired.
