9 WWE SmackDown Angles That Should Follow Money In The Bank 2017
5. Make Lana The Women's Champion
Naomi has improved by leaps and bounds when it comes to her ring work, which consists of leaps and bounds and ass-based offense. She's worked hard to hone her craft and deserves the position she's in. But in the immortal words of William Munny, "deserve's got nothing to do with it."
Lana is at the boiling point for a championship run. The fans already expect her to be a terrible wrestler and the vocal segment of the audience that emphasizes wrestling ability above all other aspects of the business already resent her for it. While her Money in the Bank match showed that she's better than expected, she's still viewed as Eva Marie 2.0 by many.
In an era where heels usually end up getting cheered for being infinitely more interesting characters than a roster full of obtuse faces, Lana has genuine heat that WWE needs to capitalize on. Naomi is a fine champion, Carmella's time is coming now that she has the briefcase, and the rest of the ladies on the blue brand have all had at least a bit of time in the spotlight.
Lana needs to rematch the champ and take the title off of her while doing as little as possible from a pure workrate standpoint. This is the reality era - if heels aren't going to get booed for committing nefarious acts then find new ways to get them jeered. Giving someone the gimmick of an atrocious wrestler and making them the centerpiece of the division will work.
