9. WCW World Six-Man Tag Team Championship
The World Six-Man Tag Team title was exactly what it sounds like. Instead of simply being a tag title, the Six-Man Tag belt was defended exclusively in six-man tag team action and awarded to a three-man group. It was introduced in January of 1991 and was a spiritual successor to the NWA version of the gold -- following WCWs departure from the governing body. The original champions were the Junkyard Dog, Ricky Morton, and Tommy Rich. However, they were defeated on June 3rd in 91 by probably the most famous trio to carry the straps -- the Fabulous Freebirds. Sadly, this wasnt the Freebirds of yesteryear, but was the early 90s version. However, the Freebirds were still an entertaining trio consisting of the masked Badstreet, Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin, and the ever-charismatic Michael P.S. Hayes. Despite only being introduced at the beginning of the year, the Six-Man Tag Team Championship would be abandoned in November of 91 -- last being held by The York Foundation. There was a brief rumbling that the belts would return in early 1992, however, nothing came of it. Eric Bischoff had announced that the titles would be fought for at the Beach Blast pay-per-view. Despite the announcement, the idea was scrapped at some point, as the match of Bobby Eaton, Arn Anderson, and Steve Austin against the team of Barry Windham, Nikita Koloff, and Dustin Rhodes ended up being just a standard six-man affair.
