Getting Emotionally Attached To A Character
Again, this is just like the last example with Kobe. Fans may not care about other NBA teams, but they might like a team or a player because they are from their hometown, or they saw a player do something on the court they thought was awesome. A personal example is Vince Carter. Once I saw him throw down that 360 windmill in the dunk contest, he was instantly my favorite player in the NBA. I kept tuning in to his games to see him dunk on other players, not caring how the rest of the team did or if they even won the game or not. Do you think I was alone with this? Absolutely notI guarantee many others did the same thing I was doing. This translates directly over to the WWE world---lets take one of my friends as an example. I finally got him to watch Monday Night RAW about a month-or-so before WrestleMania 29. As soon as he saw Mark Henry come out and destroy whomever it was that he destroyed, he was hooked. It wasnt only because Henry simply destroyed his opponent, howevermy friend loved his entrance music, the way he walked to the ring, how he screamed THATS WHAT I DO to his opponent as he was lying motionless on the mat after the match, etc. I bought us tickets to WrestleMania, and he came out happy as ever, just because Mark Henry won his match. You pick out someone you like, and you cheer for him or her to come out on top every time they come on the TV screen.
