Acknowledge It - WWE's HUGE Problem With Roman Reigns

Is the only truth about WrestleMania 38's tepid headliner that it was doomed to its inevitable failure by one of the company's biggest ever lies?

Is this supposed Roman Reigns success story in fact the biggest lie they've ever told? A lie told so loudly and with such conviction for 600+ days that everybody has just accepted it as fact in a post-truth world.

To credibly pick apart something that has been subjectively ordained as a mammoth victory for WWE, it’s important to acknowledge any objective metrics. And they’re not hard to find - Paul Heyman listed them one-by-one in a shameless parody of a main event promo on the post-WrestleMania Monday Night Raw.

There, he revealed how SummerSlam 2021, Survivor Series 2021 and Royal Rumble 2022 had the "largest grossing box office gates" in history with Reigns on top, that 2021 was the first billion dollar-grossing year in wrestling history, that WrestleMania 38 had the largest crowd(s) in the show's history and a 58% increase in Peacock numbers from the year prior, and that top guy Roman was the "largest grossing comments facilitator in the history of WrestleMania",

Largest grossing comments facilitator in the history of WrestleMania. Repeat that. Wrestling isn't real, and nor should that kind of stat be. Not in a promo that should exist to trumpet a fictional character in a fictional world. What the f*ck are we doing here, man?

Just because a load of people hold one finger up when Roman Reigns arrives and it's not the middle one anymore, it doesn't mean any of this is definitively good. Largest grossing comments facilitator in the history of WrestleMania can still happen by millions of people calling you a boring b*tch on the socials.
