AEW Boss Tony Khan Says He's "Different" To WWE's Vince McMahon

Tony Khan doesn't want to be compared to WWE's Vince McMahon. Here's why!

AEW chief Tony Khan doesn't want people to draw parallels between his interactions with MJF and Vince McMahon back in the day with Steve Austin.

Khan told 98Rock 97.9 Baltimore radio that he's "different" from McMahon - Tony doesn't see himself as an onscreen character for one. He also pointed out that it'd be senseless to shy away from the fact he owns All Elite Wrestling and helps book what fans see on TV. Everybody knows that, but he isn't a weekly presence on Dynamite or Rampage.

Tony said the MJF shoot stuff from last year stood out as unique because he was defending AEW by pushing back against the renegade wrestler. Khan doesn't think that's similar to McMahon working some over-the-top characterisation of his real-life responsibilities behind the scenes.

There were some brief concerns last summer that TK might push himself to the forefront of booking and become an on-air protagonist to Friedman's antagonist. So many owners/bookers have done that in the past, but Khan resisted any temptation to become the next.

He added that he'll always put AEW "first" ahead of his own interests.
