AEW does not plan on putting its World Championship on Jeff Jarrett.

Fightful Select has reported as much, writing that there have never been plans to strap 'The Last Outlaw', whose current on-air intentions are one last push for the World Title after signing his final contract as a professional wrestler.

It is stated that Jarrett was "instrumental" in pitching his current feud with MJF. Currently, that storyline is expected to run until 9 March's Revolution 2025 pay-per-view, though it was "originally planned for much longer."

Jarrett had teased calling time on his 38-year professional wrestling career before announcing, on the 1 January episode of AEW Dynamite, that he had signed his last in-ring contract. During a confrontation segment the following week, MJF stated that Jeff's new deal was for one year.

MJF had offered Jarrett assistance in winning the AEW World Title at the start of their program. In return, Jeff would give Max the first shot upon winning. The duo entered a full-blown rivalry after Jarrett turned the offer down.

The 57-year-old Jarrett's road to the World Championship became clearer on the 22 January Dynamite. Confronted by the Death Riders' Claudio Castagnoli, who told Jarrett he had to go through him to get close to World Champion Jon Moxley, Jeff was defiant, setting up a match between the two. Whether or not Jarrett gets past Claudio, Fightful's report indicates that he isn't dethroning Moxley.

Jarrett's last run with a major North American world title came as NWA World Heavyweight Champion under the TNA banner in 2006.
