AEW Double Or Nothing 2021: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

3. Kenny Omega Drops The Strap

Tony Khan Orange Cassidy
AEW

Nightmare: AEW, in some desperate ploy to book their own underdog champ akin to Daniel Bryan in 2014 or erm...TNA's Eric Young in 2014, decide last-minute to put the World Title on rising star Orange Cassidy. That turns out to be a short-term idea, and Orange drops the belt back to Omega on an upcoming episode of Dynamite.

Chances Of Happening: Surely. F*cking. Not.

Kenny waited almost two years to take his place at the top of the AEW Title tree, and it'd be incredibly random if his first reign ended in a rather second-rate Triple Threat against Cassidy and old partner-come-rival PAC. The most likely outcome here is that Omega pins Orange (presumably by cheating) and spins off into a full-blown singles feud against him.

Cassidy isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he is a good worker and earned his stripes against Chris Jericho previously. That doesn't quite mean he's ready to become the top man in the entire promotion though. Not yet anyway.
