AEW Double Or Nothing 2022: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

3. Punk’s Comeback Story Is Wasted

Eek!

Hangman Page’s AEW World Title reign…hasn’t been sparkling at all. Tony Khan must be aware of that, so the worry here is that he views a win over CM Punk as some sort of sticking plaster for Page's wonky title run when the real magic would come elsewhere.

Punk has to bag that belt and crown his pro wrestling comeback properly. All Elite won't get another chance to book his first World Title opportunity since returning, obviously, and it's important that they don't spurn a heartwarming moment just to keep Hangman's lacklustre championship reign ticking along.

They really, really have to get this right.

It'd be rotten if Punk lost, then started a story of self-doubt that ultimately teased his departure from AEW. Nobody wants to see CM question whether or not he can hang with the young guns on this roster again, or walk away, especially when he's the number one contender for the top prize.
