AEW Double Or Nothing 2023: 10 Things That Must Happen

3. MJF Retains

Time to survive the gauntlet, more like.

Listen (trademark Max Caster), it's honestly very neat to see four of the brightest young homegrown stars from AEW's first four years of business headline a major pay-per-view like this. MJF is the pick of the bunch though, and there's no way he drops his AEW World Title on Sunday.

The walking, talking promo machine still has a lot to get through in this title reign, and he shouldn't be losing in a multi-man situation. No, it'd be better if Friedman eventually lost his strap because he was beaten fairly one-on-one by a carefully built challenger fans crave as champion.

Can anyone credibly claim Darby, Sammy or Jack deserve to supplant MJF in May 2023? Nah. The champ retaining/surviving by the skin of his teeth is the only way to go with DoN's headliner. Keep MJF's title reign intact, then build towards something massive for Wembley and All In.
