AEW Double Or Nothing: 8 Matches We Want To See

3. Chris Jericho Vs. Cody

Before getting to that, there's the not-so-small matter of Chris Jericho's pyro-laced rally appearance.

Y2J's wording was very specific; he said AEW would "change the universe" (a possible nod at WWE's terminology) and made sure to note he was an "outlaw" who "wasn't there for the money". If that's true, then Jericho will have some dream matches up his sleeves. One of them, hopefully, is a battle of ex-WWE stars.

Assuming The Elite have something bigger in mind for the main event, there's nothing stopping them from putting Jericho vs. Cody on right before it to set the scene. It's unlikely the bout would be a Meltzer-ratings-buster from an in-ring perspective, but Y2J vs. Rhodes does have a marquee vibe to it that Double Or Nothing would benefit from.

The pair have never had that big one-on-one match, and the time is right to make it happen. There's an easy story too. Cody could be naturally upset that Y2J stole the show at the rally and made it all about him by saying AEW would go to "another level" now he's here.
