Heightened competition from NBA playoffs coverage continued to have a detrimental impact on professional wrestling television ratings this Wednesday evening, as AEW Dynamite dropped in average viewership and the key 18-49 demographic.

As originally reported by Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, an average of 833,000 P2+ viewers watched the 4 May episode of Dynamite across its two hours on TBS. This was down around 10% on the previous week - and is the show's worst P2+ number in its usual 8 PM, Wednesday timeslot since 19 May 2021.

The P2+ figure included 421,000 aged between 18 and 49, making for a P18-49 rating of 0.32. Last week, the show attracted 424,000 viewers in the demo.

Despite these drops, Dynamite still finished fourth on the night amongst original cable telecasts. While the numbers are down, the show is still holding up well relative to other cable broadcasts, with NBA coverage understandably dominating the evening.

Live NBA games and Inside the NBA occupied the top three cable slots on the night. Expect wrestling to face an even tougher battle as the playoffs progress and more viewers are attracted to games of increasingly high stakes.
