All Elite Wrestling has just been hit with a $10,000 fine for the unsanctioned Lights Out match contested by Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley at Full Gear last November.

The official order from the Maryland State Athletic Commission was posted to Twitter last night, confirming the fine:-

Per the order, AEW has been fined for the performers suffering lacerations that brought blood into the ring, violating state laws relating to professional wrestling and other related activity.

Specific mention of foreign objects like the "baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire" and a "tool similar to an ice pick" is mentioned. Omega dragging a barbed wire wrapped broom across Moxley's back is mentioned, as is Mox hitting his opponent with the aforementioned baseball bat.

In summary, the Commission ruled that AEW violated several different regulations with the match, including the Conduct of Wrestling Contest and Responsibility of Promoter act, and must now pay $10,000 within 30 days.

Not exactly a monster fine for a man of Tony Khan's resources, but this all seems very archaic. The match was brutal, sure, but not even a true deathmatch, with the blood loss minimal. Madness.
