AEW Rampage Rating Sinks To Lowest Number Ever

Friday's AEW Rampage didn't pull in a big TV audience, but why were ratings so low?

This past Friday's episode of AEW Rampage pulled the lowest ratings in the show's run so far.

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics revealed via Twitter that the program scored 398,000 viewers - Rampage was moved to a later-than-usual time slot on TNT due to coverage of the NCAA basketball finals. That contributed heavily to the downswing in viewership for AEW's third major hour.

This, despite the justifiable excuse for a sag, is now the lowest rating Rampage has ever pulled since debuting in August 2021. Tony Khan won't want that to become a trend for the broadcast. One week prior, the show drew 526,000 viewers in its regular time slot on TNT.

Rampage started at an odd time (11.48pm) in most local US markets due to the basketball, to be fair. By comparison, WWE SmackDown (in it's usual 8-10pm slot) hauled in 2,147,000 fans. Breaking things down further, AEW drew 166,000 in the coveted 18-49 demographic, whereas SmackDown scored 755,000 in that same demo.

It'll be interesting to keep an eye on this Friday's Rampage rating to see if a switch back to the regular slot helps things.
