AEW Worlds End 2023: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

5. The Triple Crown Feels Too Diluted

There is another nagging issue with the Continental Classic, to be fair.

AEW will establish a brand new Triple Crown champ at Worlds End. The CC winner will get the ROH World Title, the NJPW Strong Openweight belt, and the newly-minted Continental Championship. That, being brutally frank about it, could well be overkill. Introducing a new title by attaching it to others straight away is risky.

Both the ROH and New Japan straps will probs dilute the importance of the fresher Continental one. Wouldn't it have been better to avoid the Triple Crown stuff and just go all in on the Continental Championship without making it seem like some credibility leech right off the bat?

Remember, the Continental Title is the only AEW-branded belt of the three. Yep, ROH is under Tony Khan's umbrella, but it's presented as a standalone brand. Basically, the only AEW title here is already the least important one before it even has an inaugural champion.

Fans might struggle to care about it because of that.
