AEW's Brandi Rhodes Discusses Full-Time Intergender Wrestling

Why is it unlikely we'll see men vs. women more often in AEW?

AEW's Chief Brand Officer and occasional wrestler Brandi Rhodes isn't sure that intergender wrestling is something the mass wrestling marketplace would accept full-time.

During an interview with Digital Spy, Brandi admitted that she does "see the purpose" of having "separate divisions" between men and women in pro wrestling. That's something she'd like to see continue in AEW unless the core audience begins to "understand the nuances of intergender sports".

Rhodes does think a lot of people are into the idea, but believes it'll take a "long time" before intergender matches become the norm in the company or pro wrestling generally.

Brandi has worked several male-on-female matches herself over the years, and she does see value in them as a sporadic attraction. However, "blurring the lines" isn't something Rhodes is particularly keen on when it comes to building a television product.

Shows need to remain simple and easy-to-follow, she says.

If this is a view shared by other members of management in All Elite, then it doesn't look like intergender bouts will become part of the weekly product. There is a chance they'll still be used every so often though.
