AEW's William Regal: "I'm Gonna Offend People If I Say This!"

William Regal has some pretty definitive thoughts on an age-old wrestling argument.

William Regal doesn't want to see today's pro wrestlers "fixate" on being the "best in the world".

The ex-WCW/WWE legend and current AEW man told Metro that he's personally witnessed that pressure "put friends in the grave" - Regal didn't name names, but said he doesn't think it's healthy to pursue something that's so "subjective" anyway.

As usual, the veteran looked at things plainly by pointing out that someone out there will always disagree with "best in the world" claims. Therefore, it's pointless to try and please everybody, and it could actually "send you off the deep end" mentally if you're not careful.

Regal was careful to also say that he doesn't wish to knock anybody who wants to improve or become the best they can be. That's fine, but he just hopes "they’re not driving themselves mad with it" by trying to accomplish some impossible goal that's open to interpretation.

The Blackpool Combat Club leader's podcast ('Gentleman Villain') is full of valuable insight and nuggets of wisdom. It's a fascinating listen for anybody who wants to dive into the psychology of pro wrestling or simply learn some things about life.
