AJ Lee and Kaitlyn both came up through WWE's developmental system, NXT, at around the same time as each other, and the pair went on to working together as a tag team, calling themselves 'The Chickbusters'. They both showed a great deal of talent in a women's roster that was extremely lacking save for one or two people, and they had a lot of great chemistry as a tag team. A couple of years later, Kaitlyn was the Divas Champion while AJ Lee had won a battle royal to become the #1 contender for the title. The following weeks saw AJ employ some dastardly mind games on her former partner, namely catfishing her with the help of Big E, and mocking her by dressing up to look like an exaggerated version of her. The two went on to clash at Payback in 2013, engaging in a thrilling contest involving false finishes, great ring psychology, and even the use of Kaitlyn's belt as a weapon. AJ came out victorious in the match to earn her first ever championship, and also went on to retain it in a rematch at Money In The Bank. Though Kaitlyn retired not long after she finished working with AJ, the matches and furious rivalry that the pair had with each other managed to set the bar for the divas, and brought quality women's wrestling to WWE programming for the first time in a while.
