10. Neville

At the time of this writing, Neville is neck-and-neck with Finn Bálor for the title of longest-reigning NXT Champion.

He was a fighting champion, too, and he defended his title against a wider variety of opponents: Tyson Kidd, Sami Zayn, Tyler Breeze, Rusev, and Bo Dallas.

He even got to beat Rob Van Dam in what was absolutely the best match of RVD's last WWE run. Not to put too fine a point on it, but Neville was a big deal.

When it came time to move Neville up to Raw, WWE emphasized that this new guy was something special. He got to squash Curtis Axel in pretty spectacular fashion while the commentary team rattled off his NXT accomplishments.

A Curtis Axel squash isn't exactly impressive no matter how acrobatic it is, but the next week’s match against Seth Rollins was a huge moment for Neville. The new guy went the distance with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, even scoring history’s longest 2-count in the process.

Neville also got the coveted Breakout Superstar of the Year Slammy, which can't have been based on anything after the Rollins match, since he settled into lower midcard territory soon after.
